Bruce Perry: Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics

Early Childhood-Family Occupational Therapy

With ever advancing research, we are learning about the wonderful impact that developmentally informed, trauma sensitive, and healing focused sensory-based intervention can have for children who have been traumatized. By integrating infant-parent mental health concepts with sensory-based treatment, we can work together to support children in being well regulated. When children are regulated, they are better able to form and maintain relationships with the important adults and peers in their lives. This is what leads to growth and healing.

Occupational therapy assists children and families in achieving satisfying participation in their meaningful daily activities. This, paired with the development of healthy relationships, can lead to improved mental health.

"Relationships are the agents of change and the most powerful therapy is human love"
